Overview
At a very decent price, this reverse osmosis system comes with 6 stages of filtration and a mineral filter for healthy and tasty water. It is also convenient and easy to install, with a modest water waste – only 2:1. All parts of the system and the system itself are NFS certified, so it will produce truly pure and healthy water for you.
Performance
This RO filtration system removes 99% of the harmful contaminants, found in your water. Including heavy metal, hardness, bacteria, chlorine, odor, etc. As said, the ratio is 2:1 per gallon of drinking water.
The 6 stages of filtration include a PP sediment filter for dirt, sand, and sediment. In the second stage, there is a granular carbon filter for chlorine, taste & odors and very fine particulates. The carbon block filter on the 3rd stage removes what’s left from the previous one.
The TFC RO membrane reduces 99% of total dissolved minerals and 1000+ contaminants. At the 5th stage, the acid-washed coconut carbon filter smoothens the water to improve the taste. The last stage is the mineral filter that adds various minerals to your water through bio-stones, coral sands, and silver-impregnated zeolite stones.
The rate of the system is 75 GPD. And the system will significantly reduce the PPS immediately after installation.
Features
Here’s what you will receive on your doorstep. One set of 6 filters for the 6 stages, a spare faucet, a bypass valve, a storage tank, a wrench, some fittings, a water pipe, clips, a drain clamp, Teflon tape, etc.
It’s important to mention that the faucet is lead-free and the parts are BPA-free. What’s more, all other components comply with NSF/ANSI standard 58 to ensure safe, healthy and tasty water. If you want to use it for your fridge, though, you will need to buy your own fittings as it’s not designed for that.
Installation and maintenance
It’s pretty easy to follow installation with a complete step-by-step guide. If you don’t have the experience, be sure to read it carefully and watch the video, provided by the manufacturer. Be careful not to tighten the plastic connectors too much. They could be a weak point.
Before usage, you will need to wait for the whole system to pressurize (including the storage tank and faucet) and check for leaks. Also, you will have to empty the first 2 tanks before drinking. This is called flushing and it is a common thing for pretty much all the top class reverse osmosis systems.
As it comes to maintenance – filters will save you a lot of money. First of all, the manufacturer will provide you with information about where you can get spare filters or what model to search for. Also, the tech support is rather decent.
The first 3 filters have a lifespan of up to 12 months, the RO membrane should be changed between 15 and 20 months. The post-carbon filter lifetime is 15 to 20 months and the mineral filter’s lifetime is 12 months. All this depends on the initial water quality, but still pretty convenient.
Pros:
- Fair price and decent performance
- Modest water waste
- Additional mineral filter
- Lead-free and BPA-free
- Fully certified
- Great support
Cons:
- Possible weak points and leaks as the connectors are plastic
